Fun in the Sun on a Sunday!

Since it was such a nice day, we decided to spend all day outside playing.  It was the perfect day for some water fun so we headed out in search of some water toys. Our timing couldn't have been any better since everything I was looking for was on clearance!! I was able to get a water table, sprinkler, and sidewalk chalk for next to nothing.

We started out playing with chalk.  Lilah made some beautiful sidewalk artwork full of scribbles.  

 



 



 After we got tired of playing with chalk, we set up the water table.  Lilah's favorite part was drinking scoops full of water.

 

 

We had to make sure we protected our little blondie's scalp from the sun so I made sure she wore her sunhat. She wasn't too crazy about the hat.

 



 

She would only wear the hat if her bow was attached to it. :)

Later in the day, Lilah came inside covered in chalk after spending some time with Papa outside. No wonder I didn't see them for awhile...they were apparently busy creating this masterpiece...

 

 

Lilah:14 Months

Dear Lilah-

On August 24th, you turned 14 months old!  You have been such a busy little girl lately!  It's been awhile since I've done a post on your latest milestones. I wanted to be sure to do an update this month because it seems like you are just growing by leaps and bounds!  

 

So, here is what you are doing at 14 months old...

 

You are able to feed yourself.

You are doing such a great job with self-feeding! You love anything you can eat with a spoon. Some of your very favorite spoon foods are yogurt, refried beans, and cereal. 

 

You are full of personality. In fact, you are a little ham and love being the center of attention!

 



Some of your latest tricks are:

Blowing kisses

High and low fives

Giving hugs

Waving hi and bye

Sticking out your tongue

Shaking your head "no"

Nodding your head "yes" (this looks a lot like you are head banging)

 

 





 

You are now saying the following words:

 

Hi

Bye

Ball

Mama

Dada

Pop (when we pop bubbles)

Muah (when you blow kisses)

Uh-oh

Quack, Quack-you know a duck says quack, quack

You also know how to say "milk" and "more" in sign language

 

 

 

You love to dance! Anytime music comes on, you'll stop whatever it is that you're doing to bust out some moves. Commercials are some of your favorite tunes --you really get down to the Empire Flooring, Dale's Seasoning, and Nissan commercials. Haha!

Your signature moves are twisting your hips and bending your knees.

 

You are very independent and love to explore. You're into everything and want to everything we do. You LOVE being outside. Outside is your happy place--you can spend hours outside.



You love to play and you play so hard. Some of your favorite toys right now are: your blocks, Cozy Coupe, PlaySkool Elephant Ball Popper, Ladybug tent, Leapfrog magnetic zoo, and you love to kick your princess ball around.

 

You are a Papa's girl for sure. You are head over heels for your daddy. Whenever he comes in the room you just light up! 

 You are a girly-girl and love to dress up!

 

 

You also are such a little flirt! In fact, you already have two admirers at school. I've been told by your teachers and a couple of parents that some of your fellow boy classmates "talk" about you at home. :) Haha!  Your Papa is not very happy to hear this.

 

We love you so much baby girl!

Magically Delicious

When it comes to food, Lilah is a huge beggar!!  I can guarantee that if you're around her eating something, she is going to want what you have. 

Tonight, she had a great dinner of broccoli, watermelon, chicken, turkey, noodles and yogurt. Haha-quite the variety, I know! We just so happened to order Applebee's take-out so she had a mixture of both Jep and my entrees as well as some of her favorites that we had around the house. 

 

Later in the evening, Papa fixed himself a snack of cereal. Our beggar was right at his feet wanting a bite. This was actually Lilah's first taste of cereal and milk.

She was a BIG fan! She and Papa traded bites.

 



On the second helping, Lilah went off to find her *OWN* spoon so she could take matters into her own hands. Can we say, Ms. Independent???


She is doing so well with feeding herself! I'm trying to figure out what is going to be her dominate hand. She tends to switch back and forth using her right and left hand.
 

 

Yum! Yum! Yum!! We may have found one of her new favorite foods!

 

SMILE!

At almost 14 months, Lilah had her very first visit to the dentist! Our sweet angel has the most beautiful smile, but we scheduled this visit just to check on two of her bottom teeth that have fused together.

Our visit got off to a great start--Lilah had a blast in the waiting room.  We brought along one of her favorite books, Bubbles Bubbles (from Ms. Brenda). 

Our girl is so wild and crazy that I didn't even get a chance to get a picture of her in the reclining chair in her Papa's lap. I was too busy trying to keep her entertained.  My entertainment only lasted for a split second for the hygenist to get a quick look in her mouth.  While we waited for Dr. A, our new dentist, to come back, Lilah had the best time just wandering around talking to the hygenists. She sure got a ton of attention.

All in all, it was a very quick visit. We will come back in a year for her first cleaning and they'll take a look on how her special, little tooth is doing.

Lilah has been busy, busy, busy in class this year.

I cannot talk up Lilah's new teachers enough!! They are so awesome! I love getting surprise pictures of my baby girl each day.

All About Me...

On Friday, we were sent home with Lilah's very first school assignment--an "all about me" poster. I was so excited for our first project!! 

Progress!

Lilah has been making great strides in using sippy cups! Woohoo!! 

Her awesome teachers sent me another fun picture this afternoon...Go, Lilah!!

Currently, her favorite way to drink is out of straws or just out of a regular cup like a big girl.  If she drinks out of a regular cup, she most definitely has to have her own...she is notorious for some serious back-washing. :)

Playing Dress Up

I just received the sweetest text on this rainy afternoon.  Ms. Gwen, one of Lilah's teachers, sent me this picture of Lilah playing dress up with her friends.

This sure brightened my day!!

First Day of School & The Hokey Pokey

Today was the first day of the new school year.

Here is my precious Bouncing Buttercup this morning. We are so excited to be starting this year with Ms. April & Ms. Gwen as our teachers!!
