We're Getting So Close!

All appliances have arrived, the last coat of paint has been painted, garage doors have been installed, the fence is complete, sod has been laid, and plants have been planted! Now, all we are waiting on is electricity, which will be turned on tomorrow!! Oh, and most importantly we need our "certificate of occupancy" which we will be hopefully getting tomorrow as well. Once we get our c/o we will be able to start moving our things in to our new house. AHH, it is so surreal and I can't believe we are almost at the finish line. We have a lot to do in the next week! We have to be out of the apartment on June 30th and we haven't even begun to start packing- so, we will be very BUSY in the days to come!!

The Honeymoon's Over...

Jep and I recently got back from our honeymoon in Riviera Maya, Mexico. We were originally scheduled to leave shortly after the wedding but due to the swine flu craze we decided to postpone.

The honeymoon got off to a rocky start. First, we missed our flight out of Altanta even though we arrived to the airport with 3 hours to spare. And then upon arrival of our hotel, we had $400 stolen from our room safe. Although we were upset about the start of the honeymoon, we tried not to let it stop us from enjoying ourselves.

We spent the majority of our days lounging by the hotel pool and beach enjoying all the free Corona on draft and frozen drinks we could have asked for! Jep also discovered a new hobby--water polo. He spent 3 out of the 5 days playing. And, wow, there were a few vicious games!

When we finally did get off hotel grounds, we ventured out to Playa del Carmen one night. We ate dinner at an authenic Mexican restaurant and strolled up and down the crowded streets. We really enjoyed the nightlife there and I'd love to go back for another visit sometime!

We also ventured out to the ancient Mayan site of Tulum. It was incredible listening to the history of the Mayan people told by our tour guide who did not leave out any details about the Mayan beliefs, how the structures came to be, and even the human sacrifices that took place on the site.

An Update...on Dread and the House

The above picture is of Dread and his "orange barbell"--his FAVORITE toy. Whenever anyone walks through the front door, Dread runs to greet them with this barbell in his mouth. (It's the one toy we've given him that he isn't able to chew into little pieces and he's proud to show it off to everyone.)

I was able to snap such a sweet shot because our poor baby is doped up on antibiotics and Benadryl. Yesterday, I came home from work to find him with a swollen face and his left eye barely open due to swelling. Dread had a visit with the vet at the Animal ER last night. We aren't entirely sure what happened- we just know that he had an allergic reaction to something. I think we ruled out a spider/snake bite. All Dread knows is that he had to endure two BIG shots and is now drowsy due to meds--POOR BABY!!!! However you can rest assured, he sure is enjoying taking his turkey wraps every 8 hours (Benadryl and antibiotics wrapped in turkey.) :)

Brewfest and a Make-Over

This weekend Jep was out of town for drill so not too much went on with the house. Last week, our light fixtures were installed and we now have plumbing! Yay...no more port-a-potty! :) I didn't have a chance to take pictues of our new fixtures but will post some later this week. We are really happy with how they look! Our concrete was also poured last week. So, we now have a driveway, sidewalk, and back porch.

This coming week we are having our hardwood and carpet installed. So, we are moving right along.
Since I had the weekend off of house stuff, I had some free time... Friday night I went to the Magic City Brewfest with Lindsey and Dan here in Birmingham at Sloss Furnace. We had a great time trying to sample over 250 featured beers...obviously we didn't get to try ALL 250 but I think we definitely got our money's worth!

On Saturday I went and got my hair cut and colored. I went back to a darker brown and chopped it off! My hair is now above my shoulders. I LOVE it and am anxious to see what Jep thinks...he's going to come home after being gone for weekend to a whole new wife!! :)

A few updated pics...

Dread soaking up the sun on our apartment patio...he has no idea that in just a few weeks he'll have his own big back yard! :)

Me, pre-haircut, at Brewfest sampling "30-A Pale Ale" from the Emerald Coast Beer Company. Jep and I were married off of 30-A so I needed to take a picture with my sample!

Next weekend Jep and I are leaving for our honeymoon!! So, at this time next week we'll be in Riviera Maya! We can't wait!!!
